AI calorie counter

AI calorie counter: snap a photo, get calories and macros

CalQuest is an AI calorie counter for iPhone and Android. Take a photo of your meal and Cal, the CalQuest mascot, estimates the food, the portion, the calories and the macros. You check the result, fix anything that looks off, and add it to your log. Logging meals also completes daily quests that earn XP toward a monthly league.

How the photo scan works

  1. Snap your meal. Take a photo or pick one from your gallery, aimed at the centre of the plate.
  2. Tell Cal more if you like. An optional note such as “skimmed milk, 2 sugars, fried in butter” covers what a photo cannot show.
  3. Review and save. Cal breaks the meal down into its ingredients with calories, protein, carbs and fat. Edit the name, the serving or any number, then add it to your log.

What a photo can and cannot tell

An AI estimate is a starting point. A photo cannot see the oil in the pan, the sugar in a sauce or what is hidden inside a wrap, so CalQuest always shows you the estimate before it is saved and lets you change it. CalQuest gives general wellness estimates, not medical advice.

What is free

Downloading CalQuest is free, and so is the daily loop: logging, daily quests, streaks and monthly leagues. Photo scans use scan energy, which refills every day. If you run out, watch a short ad for another scan or spend diamonds you earn in the app. No photo handy? Enter the meal manually, or log it again from Recent or Favourites. CalQuest PRO, an optional subscription, makes photo scans unlimited.

Why it keeps you logging

Counting calories is easy to start and easy to drop. CalQuest turns each log into progress: meals and healthy actions complete daily missions and earn XP, your streak grows for every day you open the app, and your XP moves you up a monthly league. Finish near the top to move up a league next month.

Works with your health apps

Optional health sync reads your steps, sleep, exercise and weight from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android. CalQuest never writes to your health app.

Questions

Is CalQuest free?
Yes. CalQuest is free to download, and logging, daily quests, streaks and monthly leagues are free. Photo scans use scan energy that refills every day, and you can watch a short ad for another scan. CalQuest PRO is an optional subscription that makes photo scans unlimited.
How accurate is an AI calorie counter?
It gives an estimate, not a lab result. CalQuest estimates the food, portion, calories and macros from your photo, and you review and edit every result before it is saved. Adding a short note about what the photo cannot show, such as cooking oil or sugar, gives Cal more to go on.
Can I log food without a photo?
Yes. You can enter a meal manually, or log it again from your Recent foods or Favourites.
Does CalQuest track macros?
Yes. Every scan shows protein, carbs and fat next to the calories, and your plan sets daily calorie and macro targets.
What happens to my food photos?
The app asks for your permission before it sends your first photo. Your meal photo and any note go to OpenAI only to estimate the nutrition, and under OpenAI’s API terms that data is not used to train its models by default. You can delete any photo at any time.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone and Android. CalQuest is on the App Store and Google Play.
