About CalQuest and this policy
CalQuest is a calorie-tracking and fitness game app operated by CalQuest. If you have any questions about this policy, please email us at calquestai@gmail.com.
Last updated: July 2026. We will update this page whenever our practices change and will note the revision date here.
What we collect and why
We collect only what we need to make the app work and to improve it.
- Account data: your email address and the authentication provider you chose (Google or Apple). We need this to identify your account and send you essential service messages.
- Food, exercise, and weight logs: everything you track inside the app (meal entries, nutrition estimates, workouts, weight check-ins). This is the core data that powers your personal history and league scoring.
- Food photos: photos you take inside the app to get an AI-powered nutrition estimate. Photos are uploaded to secure cloud storage, sent to OpenAI for analysis, and then stored so you can view your meal history. You can delete any photo at any time.
- Device and usage analytics: anonymous events such as which screens you visit, feature usage, and session timing. We use this to understand how people use CalQuest so we can improve it.
- Crash and error data: if the app crashes, we collect a technical report (stack trace, device model, OS version) to help us find and fix bugs. No personal log content is included in crash reports.
- Ad-related identifiers: if you view ads in the app, AdMob may collect your device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) after you grant permission through the iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt or the GDPR consent screen. You can withdraw this consent at any time in your device settings.
Third-party processors
We share your data with the following processors only to the extent required for the stated purpose. Each has its own privacy policy and data processing agreement.
- Supabase: provides our authentication system, relational database (where your logs and account data are stored), and cloud file storage for food photos. Data is stored in the US by default.
- OpenAI: analyzes your food photos to generate nutrition estimates. Photos are sent to the OpenAI API; OpenAI does not use them to train its models under our enterprise agreement.
- Google AdMob: serves in-app advertisements and manages GDPR User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent on Android and iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) consent on iOS. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage signals subject to your consent choices.
- PostHog: collects anonymous product analytics events (screen views, feature interactions) to help us understand usage patterns and improve the app. PostHog receives no personally identifiable information by default.
- Sentry: receives crash reports and error logs to help us diagnose and fix technical issues. Sentry reports contain device and error context but are scrubbed of personal log content.
- Google Sign-In:if you choose to sign in with Google, Google authenticates you and provides your email address and basic profile to CalQuest. Google’s use of your data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Apple Sign-In:if you choose to sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and provides a verified email address (or a private relay address) to CalQuest. Apple’s use of your data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Data retention
We keep your account data and logs for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data (account record, food/exercise/ weight logs, and food photos) within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records by law.
Anonymous analytics events and aggregated crash reports may be retained for longer for product improvement purposes; they cannot be linked back to you once your account is deleted.
Children
CalQuest is not directed at children under 13. We require users to confirm they are 13 or older when creating an account (age gate). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at calquestai@gmail.com.
